Simcha Baskets
Add an extra mitzvah to your family celebrations by creating and donating unique and useful Simcha Baskets to JF&CS. In lieu of traditional floral centerpieces, Simcha Baskets are used to adorn tables at Bar and Bat Mitzvah parties, wedding receptions, and other life cycle celebrations. Jewish Family and Child Service can supply tags so you can let your guests know the impact the baskets will have on others' lives.
Jewish Family and Child Service distributes Simcha Baskets to a wide range of recipients including:
- - women and children who have experienced or witnessed abuse
- - families needing financial assistance
- - children in foster care
- - children struggling for a variety of reasons, such as learning challenges, family separation or conflict, or adjusting to life in Canada as a newcomer
Suggested items to include in your Simcha Baskets:
- - gift cards (e.g. Walmart, malls, department stores, etc.)
- - arts and crafts supplies (e.g. crayons, markers, construction paper, etc.)
- - overnight camp supplies (for May/June Simcha Baskets)
- - school supplies (for July/August Simcha Baskets)
- - baby items (e.g. toys, diapers, clothing)
- - kosher, non-perishable food items
Gifts-In-Kind
We are always grateful for gifts of goods or services that we can pass along to our clients. Examples include:
- - tickets to sporting events, theatre, concerts or other entertainment
- - gift certificates/cards for department stores, clothing and shoe stores, or supermarkets
- - new toys and games for children of all ages
We regret that we are not able to accept gifts of used computers, electronics, automobiles, furniture, large appliances, non-kosher food, perishable or unwrapped food, beauty products from unrecognizable companies.

- Save your sales receipts and submit them to JF&CS for a charitable tax receipt.
- Arrange to bring your baskets to JF&CS, 4600 Bathurst Street (Lipa Green Building), and we will be delighted to deliver them to our clients.
(Please keep in mind that many of our clients rely on public transportation. If your donated basket is too heavy, they may have difficulty carrying it home)
