Thank you for your Passover kindness |
We are extremely grateful for the community’s support and happy to share that 383 households and 425 individuals in our Supplementary Financial Assistance Program benefitted from financial assistance this Passover.
Working with National Council and Living Jewishly, we arranged for 525 boxes full of Passover food for clients. Clients had the choice to either pick up the boxes or had friendly volunteers deliver them directly to their homes. One JF&CS client shared that “it was so comforting to know that volunteers delivered the box and wished me a good Yom Tov. It is good to be thought of. It was very helpful, I appreciate it.”
In addition to Passover food boxes, Jewish community organizations and synagogues helped us arrange for 130 low income/isolated clients to attend Seders throughout the city. Clients had a feeling of belonging and were welcomed at Seders with open arms. “Every year at Passover I look forward to it. This assistance and being part of Jewish Family & Child makes me proud to be a Jew.”

Giving back can start at any age

A message from Emerson's parents:
When Emerson was 1 year old, her Bubbies began taking her to the Shabbat Circle hosted by Jewish Family & Child at the Family Resource Centre in the Promenade Mall. She enjoyed her time at the Shabbat program playing with the toys, learning Shabbat traditions, singing songs and making many fond memories of time spent with her Bubbies. When it came time to choosing an organization to support through EchoAge, we wanted to support and thank JF&CS for the wonderful programming Emerson was fortunate to take advantage of, and to support Jewish Family & Child in their broader mission.

Supporting Holocaust Survivors with your help |
“Nearly a year has passed since I was told that I needed new dentures.
The dentist told me that the cost would be very expensive. With the limited funds I receive from the government I knew that I would not be able to afford them. The situation was hopeless for months until JF&CS entered my life. Listening to and hearing my troubles, my social worker assured me that the Holocaust Survivor Emergency Assistance Program would be able to help. Shortly after, my dentures were paid for. I cannot help but think that no matter what one faces in one’s life, one is never expected to face things alone. G-d always sends individuals and organizations into our lives to help us in our hour of need. That being said, I am certain that it was G-d’s will that JF&CS was sent into my life. Thank you for all of your help. May JF&CS continue to be blessed in the efforts to assist those in need within Toronto’s Jewish community.”
