Making a Difference at Any Age

We are proud to feature Pearl who recently celebrated her birthday and generously shared her gifts with Jewish Family & Child through ECHOage. “I donated my birthday money to JF&CS because it is important to help other people so everyone can have presents on their birthdays,” says Pearl. Her mother shared that as a family, they recognize the significance of teaching their children tzedakah and giving back to the community. “Even from a young age, we want them to learn that they can help to make a difference.” Pearl’s kindness will help transform our community’s reality into one we can all be proud to share.

ECHOage is an easy to use online service that turns your celebration into an opportunity to give back and support JF&CS, all while having fun doing so. When your child selects JF&CS as their charity to support, the money gifted by guests will be split between your child (to purchase the birthday gift of their choice) and JF&CS! It’s a win-win!

Collaboration and Dedication

On February 3 we held our Jewish Family & Child Conference for Direct Service Volunteers and Resource Parents, Learning New Approaches on how to Engage with our Children and Families.

There was a beautiful atmosphere of mutual respect and collaboration‎ in the room as volunteers, resource parents and JF&CS staff spent the day together, learning, sharing and networking with one another.

Jewish Family & Child is extremely grateful to have such a wonderful group of dedicated volunteers and resource parents who provide support, mentoring and care to our children, our families and our community.

Join us at Dwayne Gretzky!

After four consecutive years of sold-out Cringe Worthy shows, JF&CS Emerging Leaders is proud to present a spectacular concert with Dwayne Gretzky.

Dwayne Gretzky is a live music collective celebrating the greatest songs of all time. Transcending both era and genre, this prodigiously talented group of Toronto musicians captivates audiences with a masterfully curated tour of artists from both the classic and modern pop canon. Dwayne Gretzky will draw more than 800 people who are looking to have a great night while giving back to the community.

All proceeds will provide vulnerable youth with the opportunity to take part in extracurricular activities through Jewish Family & Child’s Levelling the Playing Field Program. Typically, these are youth who come from financially struggling families, have mental health challenges, or are current and former foster care youth.

Join us on March 28 at The Opera House for a night you won’t want to miss! Click here for tickets.

Educating our Youth at the Tzedakah Fair

We had an amazing night at Holy Blossom Temple's annual Grade 7 Tzedakah Fair. Parents and youth had the opportunity to learn about the many ways that they can perform mitzvahs at their Bar/Bat Mitzvah with JF&CS such as volunteering, setting up a tribute, or donating simcha baskets from their Bar/Bat Mitzvah.

Our dedicated staff volunteer, Sharyn Feldman, represented JF&CS and shared an array of information with students who were unfamiliar with the ways our agency supports the healthy development of individuals, children and families within our community. At the end of the fair, the students were split into groups and asked to make a donation to an organization they felt passionate about. JF&CS was proudly selected by one of the groups with the hope to raise awareness of all of the transformational ways JF&CS supports the community.

Pedal for a Purpose was a Spinning Success

On January 27, JF&CS Emerging Leaders hosted an incredible spinning event at Cyclebar Leaside. Over 40 young professionals came spinning with us to help promote mental health awareness and explore issues around life's stressors, the illnesses that we can't see, and how we can maintain or improve our mental health.

The private class was challenging but we all felt better knowing that proceeds from the event will support Jewish Family & Child’s greatest needs, such as poverty reduction and improving mental health and wellness within the community. Stay tuned for more health and wellness exercise classes hosted by JF&CS Emerging Leaders.
