Monthly Mitzvah Maker Profile: Harold Rosenfeld
Harold Rosenfeld has been involved with JF&CS since 2015 and has taken every opportunity to support the organization. From volunteering his time with clients in programs, to becoming a member of the 1868 Society, a Monthly Mitzvah Maker and now, a current Board Member, Harold is a supporter in every sense of the word.
When asked about his time with JF&CS, Harold writes,
When I retired from the corporate world three and a half years ago I started looking for social service organizations to support with my time and my donations. I recalled receiving mailings from an organization called Jewish Family & Child. I had heard their name mentioned before, and had made some small donations. This was enough for me to "Google" the organization. I was amazed at what came up. The number of services they offer is incredible. As the son of a Holocaust survivor, I was impressed by the services JF&CS offer in this area as well as their services in mental health.
This led to me volunteering for the Café Europa program and the Conversation Café program. It is so gratifying seeing the look of joy on the faces of the participants when they come to these programs. I was touched when a Holocaust survivor came over to thank me for the Café Europa program, as it is the only social life she has, and she can't wait for it to come every month. I have since become a committee member, and I was honoured to be asked to become a Board Member. Having met a number of the staff, I am so impressed by their knowledge, dedication and passion for what they do. The Jewish community in the GTA is truly blessed to have an organization like JF&CS to turn to in times of need.
